Huawei is set to shock to the world and leapfrog Samsung, Apple, and Qualcomm with the introduction of two of the world’s most advanced chips in the coming months.

Mate X is being optimized and will not go on sale until it is fully ready: Huawei

Huawei is moving towards to launch an advance mobile chip and a processor chipset with built-in 5G modem, reported NikkeiAsia.

Huawei’s self-developed chips include the mobile processor Kirin 985 designed by Huawei’s semiconductor producing arm HiSilicon and will be used in Mate 30 lineup.

The mobile processor will count as the first in the industry to use extreme ultraviolet, or EUV technology and produced by TSMC. While Samsung, Qualcomm, and Apple are planning to use EUV by next year.

Apart from this, the company currently uses two 7nm chips in its 5G smartphones including Kirin 980 and Balong 5000 modem. Its competitor Samsung is also using a processor and modem chip separately – Exynos 9820 + Exynos Modem 5100.

Qualcomm has also developed 5G chip separately from the mobile processor – Snapdragon 855 + Qualcomm X50 modem. Meanwhile, Apple still hanging in the middle to sort its way towards the 5G modem either from Qualcomm or Intel.

In this scenario, Huawei will be the first to introduce 5G integrated chipset ahead of its rivals followed by the launch of its flagship Mate 30 series smartphones later in the year said sources related to the matter.

Although Huawei is restricted from purchasing new U.S. technologies but the company is still improving its skills in the development of semiconductors and we’ll really look forward to cover the launch of its next-gen chipsets as well flagship smartphones.
