Huawei is not going to be dead, victory must be ours: Ren Zhengfei

Throughout the US ban, Huawei has to pause its business with US firms and cannot get any required component or software services to build new products, meanwhile, the company said that it can build new technologies on our own and doesn’t complete depends on the US firms.

In an interview with Chinese state media CCTV, Ren Zhengfei, founder, and CEO of Huawei said, that victory must belong to us because we rely solely on ourselves and not on the US in response about the question of rising concerned on Huawei’s end in the industry.

In the heat of trade escalation between the US and China, Ren said that Huawei never felt that it would die. Therefore we think that we can sort out the problems that we currently have including the ones that resolved and the one that’s gaining momentum. In the end, victory belongs to us.

Ren also said that we’ve one the best and sufficient talents for the company and we can recruit the best talents in the world such as the recent chip factory in the UK, doctors recruited from Germany, and we can also recruit one the best engineers in the computer technologies.

According to recent information, Huawei accounts for more than 180,000 employees, and annual research and development including basic research accounts for about 15% of sales. In 2018, Huawei invested $15 billion in research and development and expected to exceed $100 billion in the next five years.

Ren said, “Huawei should have at least 700 mathematicians, more than 800 physicists, more than 120 chemists, and more than 6,000 experts specializing in basic research, and more than 60,000 engineers to build such a research and development system, so that we can quickly catch up with the progress of the human era to seize the more important commanding heights”

He also mentioned HiSilicon, Huawei’s semiconductor subsidiary, is playing a great role in Huawei’s development, in a recent report the company revealed that it was prepared for the US ban anticipating that it won’t be easy to acquire US technologies in the future.
