Huawei is a strong rival in the race to produce best AI chips: Nvidia CEO

Nvidia sees Huawei as one of the toughest competitors in the race for the best AI chips, says Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. Despite US challenges and conflicts, Huawei managed to return to the spotlight with an advanced smartphone processor and accelerated its growth in the field of AI.

Recently, Huang visited Singapore to meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and discuss prominent strategies to compete in the global AI race. The CEO further interacted in an interview and mentioned that companies like Huawei, Intel, and other semiconductor startups have become a serious challenge to Nvidia in the AI chips market.

Describing the competition, Jensen Huang said:

“We have a lot of competitors, in China and outside China. Most of our competitors don’t care where I am. They want to compete with us everywhere we go.”

Meanwhile, the US restrictions related to AI processor sales in China have been another stress point for Nvidia. However, the company is trying to find new routes that can help it overcome these obstacles. Eventually, Huang mentioned in the interview that Nvidia is considering major investments in Singapore for better growth.

On the other hand, the tech maker announced that it will soon establish an AI research laboratory in Japan to build a local AI factory network. Consequently, these plans may help the company to regain its position in the AI sector.
