Huawei introduces HarmonyOS Symbol with 1500+ vector icons
Huawei has unveiled new symbolic font icons named ‘HarmonyOS Symbol’. It’s jointly designed by Hanyi Font and the company’s software UX Design department. From the name, the latest product will bring various new symbols and icons for users.
Symbol font refers to a specialized font that consists of non-alphabetic characters, graphics, or both. It differs from regular letters or numbers and also known as pi font.
The Chinese firm teamed up with Hanyi Font to package symbol resources and use them as fonts. The latter was founded in 1993 by China Research Institute of Printing Science Technology to engage in research and development of digitized Chinese font.
Huawei HarmonyOS Symbol contains 1500+ vector icons. These signs use mathematical equations and geometric shapes. It’s easy to scale them up and down or alter these sizes and resolutions, without affecting the visual quality.
New symbol fonts also support variable fonts. These fonts are quite useful as they require one file to store many styles. In terms of look, increasing the thickness or width of a single HarmonyOS symbol will set the change to all font icons.
Further details say that the HarmonyOS Symbol has a layered form where every layer can use a distinct color and grayscale. These icons also support individual adjustments.
HarmonyOS Symbol can show 7 dynamic effects such as disappearance, preset animations, appearance, bounce, and various other transitions. It also enables developers to sync these animations with user tasks like long presses, clicks, data transfer, and more to make them interactive for users.
Huawei’s new creation can even integrate with the old HarmonyOS Sans fonts seamlessly. Over the past few years, Sans remained a unique, easy-to-read, and universal for Huawei devices. The firm designed it with the fusion of technology and human lives.
Although it is unclear how Huawei will use the new HarmonyOS Symbol for its devices. Whether the company will roll it out to users with HarmonyOS NEXT or release a separate update is a mystery for the moment.
