Huawei collects multiple iF Design Awards for Mate 50, Mate Xs 2, Watch Buds and more
International iF Design Awards has named many Huawei technologies, smartphones, and design languages including Huawei Mate 50 series, P50 Pocket, Mate Xs, the Watch Buds smartwatch, and more.
According to the details, iF Design Awards 2023 has recognized the Huawei Mate 50 series as the best cell phone design. The Huawei Mate 50 Series is the first to feature a primary camera with a 10-size adjustable physical aperture to enable users to precisely control exposure value, thus offering a better user experience.
iF Design awards for foldable phones
Both Huawei P50 Pocket and Mate Xs 2 were recognized as the best foldable phone design for the 2023 awards.
Huawei P50 Pocket Series is a foldable phone that features the most seamless and airtight vertical fold ever seen on a device. The next-generation waterdrop-shaped Multi-Dimensional Hinge uses Huawei’s exclusive Multi-Dimensional Lifting mechanism, and the hidden open-and-shut design on both sides of the hinge seals off the screen to prevent foreign objects from infiltrating and damaging it.
Huawei Mate Xs 2 is the world’s lightest foldable phone with a 255g body. The 5.4 mm unfolding thickness is only half of the thickness of conventional smartphones. A pioneering Double-rotating Falcon Wing Hinge ensures the product’s ultra-flat experience. Coupled with the first adaptive UI engine, the product makes the ecological application perfectly presented on its large screen.
Smartwatch and earphone
The recently released Huawei FreeBuds 5 and Watch Buds also made it into the innovative design list for best earphones and smartwatches.
Huawei FreeBuds 5 innovates the inner structure layout by distributing speakers in the head unit and the battery under the head unit. With a fully curved shape design, it can keep a comfortable wearing experience after long use.
Huawei Watch Buds is a new product that combines a smartwatch with earbuds. The earbuds are attached to the back of the watch dial plate with built-in magnets, so users won’t need to carry two independent devices on the go.

iF Design Awards 2023:
Since 1954, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been a globally recognized trademark when it comes to excellent design. The awards honor design achievements in all disciplines: product, packaging, communication and service design, architecture, and interior design, as well as user interface (UI), user experience (UX), and professional concepts.
The 2023 awards include 88 international, independent design experts who met to determine the winners of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2023 as part of the iF Final Jury. There were heated discussions, testing, evaluations, and finally a decision on the awards. A total of 2,104 participants from 47 countries can look forward to this valuable award.
