Huawei HiSilicon performed well in Q3 2024, thanks to mid-range Kirin chip

A new Canalys report shows that Huawei HiSilicon has grown significantly in Q3 2024 and the credit goes to mid-range Kirin chip products. The tech giant has launched several mid-rangers in the past months that led to the better growth of its chip sector.

Canalys has published the Q3 2024 global smartphone chipmaker ranking. Brands like Apple, Qualcomm, and others have achieved the top five spots in the market.

Huawei is also one of these rankers and scored good grades with HiSilicon Kirin chip unit in Q3 2024. The research firm says HiSilicon has marked the most outstanding growth performance among its global competitors in the third quarter of this year.

The report reveals that HiSilicon has recorded the fastest growth in the smartphone chip market. Its annual progress rate has increased by 211%, which is the highest figure in the current chipset producer ranking with 8 million chip shipments.

Regarding the sales revenue, the Huawei HiSilicon achieved a hike of 178% which is again the highest in the third quarter. A major credit for this growth and achievement on the global scale goes to mid-range Kirin chips.

Over the past months, Huawei has unveiled several devices with the mid-range Kirin chips. For instance, the Nova Flip foldable and the newly launched Nova 13 series.

Nova 12 series that made its way to the global platform this year also runs on Kirin 8000 processors. These handsets have performed quite well in sales.

Most of these models equip Kirin 8000 and offer effective performance while playing or watching videos. It is an octa-core chip with a 4+3+1 architecture.

As per the report, the mid-range Kirin introduction for smartphones has greatly boosted HiSilicon’s shipments. We may hear more good scores in the next quarter after the launch of the Mate 70 series with an allegedly powerful Kirin processor.

Apart from Huawei, Apple ranked first in the chipmaker listing due to its highly-priced iPhones. The company accounts for 41% of the global market share.

Qualcomm is in the second spot with 28% of the market share – thanks to the latest Snapdragon chipsets. MediaTek also has a leading position in the market due to the booming sales of Dimensity 9300 and 9400 products. It grabbed third rank with 17% of the market share.
