Huawei has started to install Huawei Assistant and Smart Charge to old devices via software update
[Updated] Last month, we reported that Huawei will manually install Huawei Assitant and Smart Charging to its old devices. And soon after our report, the company has started to send these feature to Huawei and Honor smartphone users.
Huawei P30 Pro, P20 Pro, Mate 20 Pro, and P30 Lite are recently upgraded with the VoWiFi feature in India as well as April 2020 and previous security updates.
The update not only includes this new WiFi calling feature but it also includes Huawei Assitant and the Smart Charging for the users.
Note:
- Unlike VoWiFi, Huawei has not mentioned “Huawei Assistant and Smart Charge” in the update changelog, which we’ve confirmed with the rollouts.
- It’s possible that some other devices may not receive the same changes. Users have to check for these features manually inside the settings.
- The rollout of Huawei Assitant and Smart Charge may vary depending on the Region/Country.
After upgrading with the latest update, Huawei Assitant has become a part of the OS and now cannot be uninstalled. The new Smart Charging allows users to make use of the charging to reduce battery charging using AI algorithms.
Also, Google Assistant in these devices is still under the settings and not left untouched with this change.
Aside from the EMUI 10 devices, users running EMUI 9.1 will also receive these new changes through an OTA. This also includes the devices from Honor such as Honor View20, Honor View10, and more.
To check these features in your devices follow the instructions below:
Smart Charge: Go to Settings > Battery > More battery settings > Smart Charge.
Huawei Assistant: Settings > Home screen & wallpaper > Home screen settings > Feed > Huawei Assistant.
Settings > Apps > Huawei Assistant Today > Check details.
