Huawei has Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, 778G supply and preparing for SD 898
There are many uncertainties in Huawei‘s world of chipset issues and in the latest development of this story, the company has seemingly achieved a big Qualcomm Snapdragon processors supply package.
According to the information coming from DigitalChatStation, Huawei has successfully obtained a supply license for Snapdragon SM8325 and SM7315 processors. On the other hand, the company is working to get the SM8450 processor next year.
Let’s process these codes and translate the sentences, Huawei has received supply permission for the Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 778G processor both with 4G use cases. However, the company is also eye the next years’ Snapdragon 898 (unannounced) chipset.
Huawei Snapdragon Use:
Huawei P50 series is the first flagship to equip with a Snapdragon chipset solution – Snapdragon 888 4G alongside the 5nm homegrown Kirin 9000. Adding to this, the Huawei MatePad 11 is the first flagship tablet that equips Snapdragon 865 chips.
Furthermore, the recently launched midrange phones in the global markets such as Huawei Nova 8i also comes with Snapdragon 662 chip.
Due to the lack of the Kirin chipset and the inability to use a 5G modem inside the smartphones, the company has decided to put Qualcomm first.
The upcoming Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro are also expected to feature Kirin 778G with 4G access. However, it would be interesting to see what these phones bring to the users.
Huawei Mate 50 next year:
Furthermore, the next year’s Huawei Mate 50 series is likely to come with the Snapdragon 898 chipset, which is yet to arrive on the market. It’s expected that this chip will be processed with 4nm process technology. However, its delivery is currently under concern due to the lack of required supply materials.
HarmonyOS:
One of the major steps taken by Huawei on this matter includes HarmonyOS’ adaptation of the Snapdragon chipset.
The company has successfully adopted Qualcomm processor for its HM OS operating system environment, which is a good sign and further enhances the quality of Huawei smartphones.
