Huawei last year launched a new tablet – Huawei MatePad Pro, shifting from MediaPad series. And the company already has ‘Mate’ labeled smartphones as well as laptops. On top of this, Huawei seems to be planning for a rename its smartwatch lineup to Mate series.

On May 6, 2020, Huawei has filed a new trademark application for “Huawei Mate Watch” at China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). Leading a potential for an upcoming Huawei Watch lineup. (spotted by TheTechGuy)

Aside from its trademark, there’s no further detail revealed by the trademark authority.

Last September, Huawei introduced its new smartwatch – Huawei Watch GT 2. It comes with Huawei’s proprietary – Kirin A1, the world’s first Bluetooth 5.1, and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.1 Wearable processor.

It offers class-leading battery life and a host of new features and functions including 15 sports modes, 10 training modes specifically for running, an enhanced music player, and Bluetooth voice calls.

Huawei Watch GT 2e, the successor of Watch GT 2, launched earlier this year alongside Huawei P40 series. It also equips Kirin A1 but has more sporty looks and new exercise options and more fitness modes.

Similar to last year, if Huawei has actually planned to Huawei Mate Watch, then it would select to unveil it with Huawei Mate 40 series in September 2020.

We’ll keep you posted.
