Huawei filed new autonomous driving patent that can detect traffic police hand signals

Huawei recently filed a new patent for autonomous driving technology and it could detect traffic signals and police interactions while driving.

The description of this patent reveals that this autonomous is based on obtaining traffic behavior information at a target intersection. It can reversely predict the status of associated traffic signals including traffic lights or hand signals of traffic police.

This tech can also avoid the situation in related technologies that only rely on traffic signal image perception to detect traffic signal status and improve the accuracy of traffic signal status detection.

Detecting traffic and police hand signals is a good feature addition for today’s smart vehicles and Huawei could use such technology in future offerings of its automotive car solutions.
