Huawei enters the top three global premium smartphone makers list in 2023 thanks to Mate 60 Pro
Huawei has returned to the top three premium global smartphone companies in 2023, according to data compiled by Counterpoint Research.
Apple revealed that smartphone OEMs’s share in the premium market in 2023 is led by Apple but it’s still declined to 71% in the past year, as compared to 75% in 2022.
Samsung is now operating with a 17% share, up from 16% shares from last year. Huawei comes third with a 5% market share, up from a 3% share last year. Xiaomi ranked fourth with a 2% market share as compared to 1% shares in 2022. Oppo has the fifth spot with a 1% market share, which remained the same as a year earlier.
Among these, Huawei increased its market share based on the Mate 60 Pro smartphone. The company launched this flagship device in August this year.
It comes with a new Kirin chipset that enables 5G connectivity. Aside from its controversial side, the Huawei Mate 60 series has its popularity in China. The phone is selling well in the country due to its latest offerings.
Samsung also gained its fair share with the S23 Ultra smartphone as well as its foldable phone inventory.
The research notes that the ultra-premium segment is driving the growth in the overall smartphone market. The $1,000 and above price segment has captured over one-third of the total premium market sales in 2023.
Meanwhile, the global premium smartphone market’s sales are likely to grow 6% YoY in 2023 to hit a new record.
