Huawei is continuously expanding its foot into the smart car industry by partnering with top car makers and its CEO has reiterated that the Chinese tech giant has no intention to make cars.

In a media conference, Huawei Smart Car Business CEO and executive director of the company, Yu Chengdong responded that Huawei doesn’t build cars or cooperates to build cars by partnership.

Yu’s latest reply came after a media person asked about rumors of getting partnership shares in big Chinese car companies. The Smart Car Business Head told that Huawei mainly produces mid-to-high-end products and will not involve the market priced below 200,000 yuan.

In the near future, we hope that everyone will work together to expand the new energy (EV) vehicle market, and the car companies’ cooperation with Huawei will be increased in one or two years.

Yu Chengdong previously said that Huawei is investing a lot in smart car technologies about 10 billion yuan a year. This includes funds for software, hardware, chips, algorithms, and other fields.

“Selling 100,000 to 200,000 cars is not important. Of course, our dream is to hope that all cars running on the road will have Huawei’s technology. Making low-end cars can sell a lot, but it doesn’t make sense.” said Yu.

He further revealed that Huawei operated with SERES to make three cars in a single year. People in Huawei work on weekends, nights, evenings, and holidays. Showing the enthusiasm of the workers, who kept on digging to build new Huawei tech.

“I’ve been doing customer service in his spare time.” Yu Chengdong said.

In terms of goals and achievement, Yu Chengdong is looking to upgrade the smart car technologies including various parts for the cockpit in order to compete with American auto companies.

“One person can’t beat it, and several brothers need to fight together. This is why we established an ecosystem alliance. I believe that the few car companies that cooperate most closely with Huawei will be the few companies that can survive to the end.” Yu Chengdong.

Most of Deng Li's smartphones are from the Huawei ecosystem and his first Huawei phone was Ascend Mate 2 (4G). As a tech enthusiast, he keeps exploring new technologies and inspects them closely. Apart from the technology world, he takes care of his garden.
