Huawei denies reports of production cut, says ‘Our global production levels are normal’

Huawei has denied the report from a publication from Taiwan, DigiTimes, which reported that Huawei is cutting shipments of its higher-end smartphones.

Huawei sent us an official response about the report, the company said:

“ Our global production levels are normal, with no notable adjustments in either direction.”

Additionally, the company said, these are just rumors.

Here’s what DigiTimes claimed in the report:

“Huawei also began cutting orders in early June for its flagship smartphones including the existing P30 series and the upcoming Mate 30 series, according to Digitimes Research senior analyst Luke Lin.”

The Chinese tech company was recently added to the US’ “Entity List”, a move that has effectively stopped Huawei from doing business with any of its US-based partners.

Meanwhile, Marketing and sales managers at Huawei are internally expecting a drop in volumes of anywhere between 40 million to 60 million smartphones this year, according to a Bloomberg report.

In order to offset the overseas decline, Huawei is aiming to grab up to half of China’s smartphone market in 2019, Bloomberg said.

Previously, President Donald Trump has said US objections against Huawei could be resolved within the framework of any trade deal.
