Huawei could launch another dual-layer OLED tablet later this year
A new leak says that Huawei could launch another dual-layer OLED tablet this year. The company has already released its first double-layer OLED device “MatePad Pro 12.2”. Although it seems there are more such durable products in the pipeline.
Weibo tipster @SmartPikachu notes that several brands are working on high-performance flagship tablets this year. These include Xiaomi, Honor, and Huawei.
The tipster adds that all of these tablets will use the dual-layer OLED panel for dynamic visual effects. This display solution is quite in trend and may continue to be implemented on the upcoming tablets, delivering a reliable screen experience.
Dual-layer OLED uses two light-emitting layers that double the brightness on the screen. These layers are on top of each other which helps in making the display brighter. Also, the solution greatly lessens the power consumption of the device.
Another benefit is durability. Due to the double-layer display panels, the tech extends a device’s lifespan. For reference, the BOE-built dual-layer OLED is capable of increasing the screen life by 6 times and reducing the power consumption by 30%.
Thus, Huawei may continue to use the dual-layer OLED technology at least for its flagship tablet products. The company could soon unveil a new MatePad Pro model with high-end capabilities, useful tech, as well as AI features.
Apple was the first to introduce this iconic display solution with the iPad Pro 2024 model. Now other brands are taking this trend further with their upcoming devices.
Honor has already used the dual-layer OLED (being the first in China) with the Magic 6 Ultimate handset. Now it may be used with a new MagicPad tablet. Xiaomi is also allegedly working on the Pad 7 series with a standard and Pro variant. Both models could opt for double-layer OLED.
