Huawei continues to rock global tablet market with 51% annual growth: Canalys

Huawei has scored 51% of annual growth in the global tablet market for Q2 2024, revealed Canalys. The company is steadily moving ahead in the worldwide tablet race with better shipment figures and increased market share compared to last year.

Canalys published its new report on the global tablet market for Q2 2024. This time, the worldwide tablet shipments grew by 18% YoY with a total of 35.9 million units.

Starting with Huawei, the company continues to maintain its third place in the Q2 2024 global tablet growth report of Canalys. It has shipped 2.5 million tablets globally and obtained a 7.0% market share. The digit is a bit less than the first quarter.

But when compared to last year (same period), the tech giant has leaped 2.5% in the market share. Huawei is also seeing an increase in the shipment value. The overall progress led the company to mark 51% (50.8 approx) in annual growth.

Canalys believes that Huawei is maintaining its spot in the top 3 rankers due to its impressive tablet sales in China, followed by EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa). These regions helped the company to reach new heights in the tablet market.

Other than Huawei, Apple and Samsung are also present in the top 3 list. Apple being first, owns 38.7% market share with 13.9 million shipments of iPads. Samsung grabbed the second position with a 12.7%YoY. It sold 6.7 million units in Q2 2024.

Lenovo is standing in fourth place. It holds 6.9% of the market share with 2.4 million unit shipments and a progress rate of 16.3%. The fifth rank goes to Xiaomi with the highest annual growth among all tech vendors. It owns 106.4%, followed by Huawei (51%). The company shipped 2.1 million tablets and has 6% of the market share.

Apart from these brands, Chromebook shipments also increased by 4% in the second quarter of this year. One of the analysts at the research firm – Kieren Jessop says:

“The tablet industry has had a positive first half of 2024, and the rest of the year should bring further relief after a difficult 2023. Additional innovation in display and AI will further draw consumer interest, mainly for flagship tablets.”
