Huawei chipset supply issues eased this year: Huawei
Chipset issue has been at the core of Huawei‘s issues bulletin since 2019’s U.S. restrictions, following that, the Chinese tech maker cannot purchase or get important technical support to build Kirin chipsets. Recently, a remark coming from a Huawei official has shown us some sign of hope in resolving chipset supply chain issues.
He Gang, President of Handset Business, Huawei Consumer Business Group recently sat in an interview with Chinese media and have been asked a question regarding chipset supply issues and their effect as compared to last year. Mr. Gang replied that the chipset supply was really tight last year, as Huawei could only have access to the 4G chipset and it exclusively came from Qualcomm. On the other hand, Qualcomm was also facing issues regarding chipset manufacturing due to the situations in the semiconductor industry and the incapability of producing new chipsets.
However, the chipset supply chain has been eased this year, and not only that, but Huawei has also improved its part of the chipset supply thanks to the improved situation in the semiconductor yield across the industry.
He further reveals that Huawei’s 5G smartphone quantity has been greatly hit by the supply chain collapse. However, solutions such as 5G network mobile cases can help consumers to upgrade their devices from 4G to 5G.
Currently, the Huawei official has not revealed, whether Huawei is planning on a solid solution for the 5G chipset. But Mr. Gang mentioned that Huawei understands the concerns of the consumers and in the absence of 5G from Huawei smartphones, the company has tried to resolve the advanced network requirements by embedding better LTE network solutions as well as WiFi to match up to their expectations.
The Chinese tech giant consumer business group chief has praised the development that has been made with the recently launched Huawei Nova 10 series, as it embarks to break new records in 4G smartphone sales.
