Huawei challenge developers to make AI based energy solution for 5G base station

Huawei is hosting a challenge, which aims to develop an AI machine learning model to reduce the energy consumption of a 5G base station from any manufacturer. This challenge is open for global academics to apply and resolve it.

Team registration is now open and will close on 30 September 2023. A panel of judges will evaluate the best solutions. It will be subsequently presented during the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai, UAE, at the end of this year.

Huawei said it wants to raise awareness of problems in the ICT industry and encourage researchers and developers to contribute their best using AI technologies.

For the Win?

Winners will get cash prizes, internships, and collaboration chances with the company. However, the developer must complete the terms of the AI innovation challenge to create a 5G base station energy consumption solution initiated by Huawei.

Seizo Onoe, Director of ITU’s Telecommunication Standardization Bureau, said it is critical to observe and resolve issues in ICT and AI industry. ITU Programme Officer Thomas Basikolo, who is also the coordinator and manager of ITU’s Machine Learning and 5G activities praised Huawei for shaping the ICT industry towards AI advancements.
