Huawei captures 46% of China’s total smartphone market share and a massive 60% of 5G market in Q2 2020
A recent report reveals that this year Huawei will lead the 5G smartphone market with most volume production. Meanwhile, new research shows that the company has already acquired a big market share in 5G and the overall smartphone market on its home ground.
According to Counterpoint’s Market Pulse monthly smartphone sales tracking service, Huawei reached its highest ever share in China capturing 46% of sales volumes in the second quarter of 2020 with 14% YoY growth.
On the other hand, Huawei claimed a 60% share of the total 5G smartphone market in China, which is a massive result of its home-market product strategy.
“Huawei continues to be the best performer in the China market, grabbing 46% market share in the quarter. Huawei achieved 14% YoY growth despite the overall market slowdown. China has become the most important market for Huawei as its overseas shipments saw a sharp decline after it lost the ability to use GMS in its latest smartphones.” said Flora Tang, the Research Analyst at Counterpoint.
“Huawei’s hefty investment in expanding distribution networks both online and offline has paid off. Also, Huawei’s 5G portfolio grew quickly with the help of the high-end Mate 30 and P40 series, as well as mid-tier Nova 7 series. Tang added.
Research from TrendForce expects that Huawei will lead 2020 with the most 5G smartphone production volume of around 74 million units with around 31% of the total market share.
“Huawei has shifted its focus to the domestic Chinese market under the impact of U.S. sanctions and in preparation for China’s active 5G commercialization efforts.” wrote TrendForce.
