Huawei calls for respect and protection of Intellectual property rights

Each year, Huawei invests the largest amount of annual income to innovate new technologies. Today, Huawei once again reiterated in front of the industry to respect and protection for intellectual property rights.

At Huawei 2023 Innovation and Intellectual Property Conference, Song Liuping, Huawei’s chief legal officer, said that Huawei is willing to cooperate with thousands of industry partners to achieve industrial integration.

The Huawei legal chief said, by respecting and protecting intellectual property rights and promoting the reasonable protection and sharing of technologies can thousands of industries jointly promote industrial development.

According to Liuping, Huawei is extending ICT technology capabilities to all segments of life. It is leading the digital transformation of thousands of industries through continuous technological innovation and high-quality services.

Huawei said that it is open to cooperation and adheres to win-win cooperation. It is working with industry partners to build an ecosystem for common development.

Song Liuping said in his address that Huawei pays attention to the protection of its own intellectual property rights. Also respects the intellectual property rights of others. It is seeking a balanced intellectual property strategy. Huawei opposes excessive patent fees and supports reasonable patent protection and technology sharing.

Huawei’s 2022 annual report shows that the company continued to increase R&D investment. In 2022, R&D investment reached 161.5 billion yuan, accounting for 25.1% of the annual revenue. The annual cumulative investment in research and development exceeds 977.3 billion yuan.

With that much investment, Huawei held over 120,000 valid authorized patents worldwide by the end of 2022.

Coming to patent business sales, Huawei signed almost 200 bilateral patent licenses. The Chinese tech maker issued patent licenses to over 350 companies. With these partners, the company earned $560 million over the last year.
