Huawei begins HarmonyOS NEXT second phase developer beta program

Huawei started the second phase of the HarmonyOS NEXT developer beta program. The latest software testing activity is live for selected smartphones and tablets. But there are some points that developers should read to sign up for this testing phase.

As per the official details, the HarmonyOS NEXT second phase beta program is open till July 26, at 15:00. The company will start reviewing submitted applications from July 13 to August 05. It may take 3-7 days to review these applications.

The Chinese phone maker has opened the 2nd phase HarmonyOS NEXT developer beta program for the same devices as the first batch. Early users with Mate 60 series models, Mate X5 models, and MatePad Pro 13.2 can jump into this activity.

The beta build push is expected to start from July 13 onwards via the OTA update method. To enroll, users and developers must meet the following requirements:

  • Should have an eligible model with a compatible baseline build
  • If you’re a developer then complete the name verification at Huawei Developer Alliance.
  • Sign the ‘Confidentiality Agreement’ and pass the registration questions. Hereafter, fill in the registration details.

Users and developers who missed the chance for the first phase can now sign up for this activity. Note that this beta program has 5000 slots for testing. Hence, if you want to be a part of HarmonyOS NEXT exploration, then register as soon as possible.

Although the company reviews applications in a batch mechanism. It means the selection of users will be based on multiple factors like registration information and more. Users have to fill correct details in the application before hitting the ‘submit’ tab.

Being a beta build, the update might erase your data or could be unfit for certain apps running on your Huawei devices. Hence, it is better to take a backup of your essential details via PC, cloud, or other medium before proceeding with an update.
