Huawei has begun to prepare for the launch of HarmonyOS NEXT, a pure HarmonyOS operating and opened its first developer beta test.

Today, the company opened HarmonyOS NEXT developer beta recruitment to acquire testers and experience key features. Unlike the public beta environment, the developer beta changes may remain incomprehensible for consumers therefore, it’s more relatable for the HarmonyOS developers.

The developer registration requires a Huawei developer ID. Thereafter, need to wait for the approval of the company to enter the beta test project.

Huawei chose the current flagship smartphone to participate in the first HarmonyOS developer beta phase including Huawei Mate 60, Mate 60 Pro, and Mate X5. All of these run HarmonyOS 4 out of the box.

With this new recruitment, registered developers can expect a beta rollout by this month.

HarmonyOS NEXT:

It all started at the Huawei Developer Conference 2023 when the company introduced its new plan to shift to a new software experience. This includes a pure HarmonyOS app ecosystem.

Despite having no clarity over this software, past finding shows that the HarmonyOS NEXT is all about a native user experience. This may also conclude the support for Android apps on this Huawei software, which remains added in the current version of HarmonyOS.

Many of the developers and industry veterans already started developing native HarmonyOS applications by collaborating with Huawei or signing new HarmonyOS developers to work for them in the office. The number of native HarmonyOS developers continues to grow in China.

Meanwhile, the user interface and the features of the HarmonyOS are yet to be released. However, we may need to wait until the public beta version of the software to see more graphical details.
