Huawei Band 8 starts collecting stable HarmonyOS 4.2 update
After a long time, Huawei Band 8 greeted a major features update via stable HarmonyOS 4.2. The firmware has added new enhancements to the wearable with the latest release. It also brings optimizations for the existing features and capabilities.
With Band 8, Huawei has also completed the HarmonyOS 4.2 stable update distribution for eligible wrist gadgets. From flagship models like Watch Ultimate, Watch 4 Series, and Watch Buds, to mid-range devices such as Band 9, various devices collected the new offering.
But whether all these wearables will get HarmonyOS NEXT is still a big question. While the company answers this query in the upcoming months, Band 8 users can install the stable HarmonyOS 4.2 update and its significant features.
The changelog reveals that the Band 8 is getting HarmonyOS 4.2 update with the 4.2.0.108 version. It brings a new Smart TV connect feature. This will automatically show your fitness course and health-related data on the screen.
Another addition is digital car keys. But it is only applicable for the NFC variant. Users will also get a reminder feature for Pairing Mode. You can check other features below.
New Features:
- Supports connections with the Huawei Health app on smart TVs. When selecting your favorite fitness course, details like heart rate, calories, and more monitored by the band will sync with the smart TV in real-time.
- Added support for digital car keys for the NFC variant of the smart band. Users can use it to check the specific supported models in the car key of the wallet. (Only supported when paired with HarmonyOS and Android phones).
- Added reminder to exit Pairing Mode

- Optimizes heart rate measurement experience.
Huawei is rolling out the major version in a phased manner. But you can check the Huawei Health app and download the latest firmware manually. Make sure to have sufficient storage and battery levels in your device.
