Huawei asks India for an independent decision on 5G development

Huawei has asked India to take an independent decision on the company’s participation in the country’s 5G development, saying that it has already answered the required question to the authorities, and that was pretty much positive.

Jay Chen, Huawei India Chief Executive said, it is a right time for the telecom department to make a decision after the past 6-8 months of close engagement, and had answered all questions that they had asked, reported TheEconomicTimes.

“Policy, standard procedure will provide security benefits for the industry and India. It is time for the telecom department to make a decision now,” said Jay Chen.

The telecom minister of India, Ravi Shankar Prasad said that that the department would take a grave look into the issue of Huawei being allowed to participate in the 5G trials.

The government has also formed an inter-ministerial committee to make a decision on 5G network security aspects but it is struggling to get it done.

Chen expects that India’s decision on its 5G deployment would not be influenced by the US pressure and added the technological developments and advancements in 5G and massive MIMO are coming from the Chinese telecom giant. The company is also planning to meet the Indian telecom minister to present its standpoint.
