Huawei AR Engine achieved 1.1 billion downloads with more than 2000 applications

On December 10, at FBEC2021, Huawei’s VR and AR product line President – Li Tengyue stated that Huawei AR Engine has been completed 1.1 billion downloads, covering 106 models and more than 2,000 applications.

Huawei AR Engine:

Huawei AR Engine is a platform for building augmented reality apps on Huawei smartphones. WorldAR is a subsystem of the Huawei AR Engine and allows your app to support the motion tracking capability, surrounding environment, estimate the illumination, so that the device can know the lighting intensity in the current environment.

At present, AR Engine features include three types of tracking systems that are:

• Motion Tracking
• Environment Tracking
• The human body and face Tracking

Motion Tracking:

Follows device locations and positions relative to their environment, and establishes a unified geometric space between the digital and physical worlds including:

• Motion tracking
• Hit detection
• The user can select points of interest in the real environment by tapping the screen of the terminal device and much more.

Environment Tracking:

Records illumination, plane, image, object, surface, and other environmental information to help your apps merge virtual objects into scenarios in the physical world such as:

• Illumination estimation
• Plane detection
• Environmental Mesh
• Plane semantics
• Recognize the semantics of planes (such as desktops, floors, doors, etc.)
• 3D cloud recognition
• Identify and track the data of cloud 2D images and more.

The human body and face Tracking:

Returns real-time information about human bodies, faces, and hand gestures for your users to interact with virtual objects such as:

• Gesture Recognition
• Recognize specific gestures and specific actions
• Hand bone tracking and more.
