Huawei applies for ‘MateBuds’ earbuds trademark
Huawei has its new smart products coming in the second half of 2020, these also have new TWS headphones. Related to this, a report recently confirmed a list of Huawei devices including the new earbuds, Huawei FreeBuds Pro, and its codenamed “Mermaid”.
Aside from the FreeBuds Pro, Huawei has registered a trademark for “MateBuds” with different intellectual property organizations around the globe. These include the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), CIPO (Canadian Intellectual Property Office), and more. (Found by LetsGoDigital)
Huawei currently markets its earbuds devices under the ‘FreeBuds’ lineup and the latest edition are FreeBuds 3 and FreeBuds lite. Huawei’s most of the devices now have ‘Mate’ in their lineups, for example, Huawei Mate smartphones, MateBook (notebook), and MatePad (tablet).
A few months ago, Huawei has also applied for a trademark for Huawei “Mate Watch“, which may be for its smartwatch. While renaming FreeBuds to MateBuds also makes sense to make a complete Mate-device ecosystem.
Currently, there’s no official information available on the devices related to this trademark. Meanwhile Huawei FreeBuds Pro is underway for the launch that may happen at IFA 2020 in early September. On the other hand, the MateBuds may have to wait until next year to enter the market, only if Huawei has actually planned to do so.
