Huawei AppGallery removed CyberGhost VPN

Recently, Huawei AppGallery removed CyberGhost VPN in some markets, the news is officially confirmed by CyberGhost via an official blog post on Monday, April 10.

“CyberGhost VPN was also impacted by this, and our Android app was effectively pulled down. At the moment, there’s no way to appeal or recourse to Huawei’s choice.” wrote CyberGhost.

For those who don’t know, CyberGhost VPN is a virtual private network service that protects user data and online behavior using advanced encryption techniques.

Why?

Currently, we don’t have any statement from Huawei on why CyberGhost VPN is removed from AppGallery but we will look for more clearance on this matter.

The latest steps might include any policy violation of AppGallery or there could be other reasons. As for your information, there are other VPN apps still available on AppGallery. So, the issue could be specific to the CyberGhost app.

Affected for all?

The app maker confirmed that the current state of the app is only affected on AppGallery and CyberGhost VPN is working on other Android apps as usual. Also, the app on Windows and iOS won’t require any changes either.

How to still use CyberGhost on Huawei devices:

People who already have CyberGhost VPN can still use it but the app may not receive future updates. However, the CyberGhost VPN suggests downloading a new update and reinstalling the app from the official website.

Follow the instructions below to reinstall CyberGhost.

• Tap and hold the CyberGhost VPN app until your phone vibrates
• Choose Uninstall
• Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the app
• Enable APK downloads on your phone
• Download the APK file from the CyberGhost website
• Select Allow at the pop-up notification
• Tap Install
• Open the CyberGhost VPN app
• Log in with your username and password
