Huawei announces major software update for fall this year
Huawei has unveiled the Pocket 2 folding phone and announced to bring a major software update version this fall. Notably, the upcoming upgrade will specifically raise the overall performance efficiency of the newly launched foldable by 30%.
The CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group – Yu Chengdong states that the ultimate HarmonyOS software system will gain a major update in the fall of this year. By that time, most of the HarmonyOS NEXT-based applications will be available online.
Adding a few more clues, the Huawei CEO mentions that HarmonyOS has always appeared with new software features for its devices. Hence, the upcoming version will be more efficient, smarter, and significant for all phone users.
The Chinese tech giant has also announced the major software update news quietly through its official post on Weibo. Eventually, the caption reads as follows:
“We continue to innovate and move forward. In 2024, a new starting point, let’s start again. Rind the wind and waves and set the sail!”
During the HarmonyOS NEXT developer preview event, the company mentioned that it will release the first developer beta in the second quarter of this year. Meanwhile, a stable HarmonyOS NEXT version is expected by the end of 2024.
For now, the dynamic software version is in the developer preview phase. Several developers are working on their applications to adapt to the new features and capabilities. Perhaps, we will have more insights on this subject by this fall.
HarmonyOS NEXT – A true OS!
Huawei claims that HarmonyOS NEXT is an independent operating system as it does not run on traditional Linux kernel but its original components.
On the greener side, it aims to bring six prominent experiences to its users: native apps, refinement, smoothness, security, intelligence, and interconnection. Moreover, Huawei is collaborating with new firms and partners to completely expand the HarmonyOS ecosystem in the region.
