Huawei announces HarmonyOS mobile dev beta 3, public beta in April
Back in December, Huawei announced the developer beta of the HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile beta and opened the recruitment for the Huawei P40, Mate 30, and MatePad Pro devices. Following the recruitment, Huawei rolled out the first beta of the HarmonyOS 2.0 for the developers.
Earlier this month, Huawei also announced the second developer beta of HarmonyOS 2.0 for mobile devices, which comes with several new features and changes in the overall operating system.
This includes 622 HarmonyOS APIs, added support for Huawei sharing and face-to-face sharing of HarmonyOS FA privacy, added MeeTime Sharing HarmonyOS FA as well as support for WebView capabilities, support for basic functions such as page loading, page navigation, and page information acquisition.
According to the information, the second developer preview beta of HarmonyOS 2.0 comes with build version 2.0.0.39 (SP3DEVC00E3R1P90) upgrading from HarmonyOS 2.0.0.33. The update has a package size of 0.95GB.
Third Beta announced:
At the HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile developer beta event on March 25, Duan Mengran, VP of Huawei’s Consumer Business AI and Smart Full Scenario Business Department announced the HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile developer beta 3.
According to the information, this latest developer beta of HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile will release on March 31. However, there’s no information available about the changelog it brings, which we may get access to on the rollout.
Stable release in April at launch:
Huawei has announced that the company will launch HarmonyOS for mobile devices in April and the previous report reveals that the company will also share the upgrade roadmap of HarmonyOS for mobile devices.
According to the previous information, the HarmonyOS for mobile will cover most of the devices that are in the market including some of the oldest models. As the new ones include Huawei Mate 40, P40, Mate X2, and more.
In 2021, Huawei has planned to install HarmonyOS in 200 million mobile device units from the 300 million devices mark that includes tablets, wearables, and other third-party partner devices such as smart home appliances.
