Huawei has reportedly penned down a deal with Peru on AI technology. As per the agreement, the Chinese tech giant will train thousands of citizens in the latest technology. It will also teach them the application of AI in various operations.

Dina Boluarte – the President of Peru recently made a tour of Huawei headquarters and talked about AI technology. Another reason for this visit was to attract more investment and aid from the Chinese region for better growth and development in Peru.

During the visit, Dina inked a deal with Huawei to train 20000 youth in Peru in the AI field. The group includes women, professionals, and business persons from small or medium-sized industries. She further confirmed this information via China Daily.

The President believes that this visit will contribute to greater investment and better collaboration between Peru and China in future. It will help the country in several sectors like infrastructure, digitalization, AI, clean energy, and a strong relationship.

Apart from AI, Dina also planned to talk about EVs with the tech giant. She aims to have a separate plant for electric vehicles in Peru. Next, she attended the Inca Culture exhibition and had a glance over 150 pre-Columbian items.

China and Peru had teamed up for BRI (Belt and Road Initiative) some time ago. This initiative aims to connect Asia with Africa and Europe using land and maritime mediums. It helps in improving regional conditions and boosting economic growth.

Peru already received $2.9 billion for this initiative last year and became the third highest in this investment across the globe. Although the Chancay Port in Lima remained a controversial part of this investment. Inputs reveal that Peru allowed some exclusive port rights to Cosco in 2021 following an administrative error and now trying to change the decision.

Amid this tension, Peru has extended its hands toward Huawei with the hope of better development. On this matter, the Prime Minister of the former nation says:

“We don’t think our friends like the U.S. will be upset that we are bringing the Chinese investment to Peru.”
