Huawei and China’s food delivery market leader Meituan have signed a partnership cooperation to develop native HarmonyOS apps.

According to the cooperation agreement, Huawei will work with Meituan in industrial innovation, technology apps, business development, and other aspects of HarmonyOS.

Zhu Yonggang, President of Huawei Consumer Business Cloud Services said that this collaboration will help Beijing-based Meituan and other internet firms to generate more traffic and business opportunities while creating great commercial value.

During the September 25 launch event, Huawei announced that HarmonyOS NEXT is ready for launch and the company will fully adopt native HarmonyOS applications. For that, Huawei is collaborating with various domestic internet companies and helping them to launch new native HarmonyOS applications.

Hirings:

To prepare from their own end, top companies are hiring HarmonyOS developers to develop mobile apps. The top names include E-commerce giant JD.com, video gaming platform, NetEase, and Meituan to name a few.

Recruitment for Meituan revealed that the company is looking for different roles in HarmonyOS base development including an infrastructure engineer.

That’s not it, it’s offering a staggering monthly salary between 40,000 to 60,000 yuan (US$5,492 and US$8,238) for app developers with HarmonyOS experience. Furthermore, there is recruitment for posts such as HarmonyOS researcher as well.

On the other hand, JD.com and NetEase are only looking for app developers to provide native features and better user experience for smartphones.

App Ecosystem:

These recruitments of developers show Huawei’s efforts to increase the number of native HarmonyOS developers. The company will outcast the Android app adaptation completely with HarmonyOS NEXT, a pure HarmonyOS software announced at Huawei’s annual developer conference in August this year.

Over the past three years, Huawei has installed HarmonyOS in over 700 million devices, and over 2.2 million developers are currently entered into the HarmonyOS development pool.

Huawei has planned to launch HarmonyOS NEXT by the end of next year, while its developer beta could go into action in early 2024.
