Huawei allegedly speeds up HarmonyOS PC launch preparations
Huawei has seemingly accelerated the launch preparations for HarmonyOS PC. The computer-dedicated software is rumored to debut in the third quarter of next year. But the latest input implies that the OS could release earlier than expected.
Weibo tipster @SmartPikachu says that Huawei has sped up the launch preparations for HarmonyOS PC. It may soon debut with significant features and capabilities.
Even though the tipster didn’t reveal the time, the new notebook-dedicated software might launch sooner than expected. It could show up by early 2025 (say, Q1).
During a ‘small-talk’ interview a few months ago, Huawei’s Yu Chengdong said that the next-gen MateBooks will ditch the Windows system and run on HarmonyOS.
The executive didn’t mention an exact timeline on this matter. Yet, this could happen in the first half of next year. Since Huawei hasn’t confirmed these details yet, it is better to take them with a grain of salt at the moment.
Huawei already dropped the support for the Android operating system with its self-developed alternative – HarmonyOS NEXT. Now the company aims to exit Windows from its ecosystem with a computer-dedicated HarmonyOS software system.
Following the U.S. sanctions that hit Huawei in 2019, the company is now forced to become self-reliant and build its own technologies related to chips and software.
The new OS will likely bring significant features over Windows. An input revealed that the HarmonyOS PC UI design would be quite similar to the MacOS and Windows. It may improve the Dock Bar given at the bottom of the home screen.
App adaptation could be faster than ever. It means users will experience a seamless app functioning on HarmonyOS PC. You can learn more about these details HERE.
