Huawei aims 100000 native HarmonyOS apps in 2025: Rotating Chairman
Xu Zhijun (Eric Xu) – the Rotating Chairman of Huawei recently shed light on the company’s future goals. He said Huawei aims to build 100000 native HarmonyOS apps in the next six months to one year. It will be a major achievement in 2025.
On November 22, GIIC (Global Intelligent Internet of Things Consortium) hosted the 2024 First HarmonyOS Ecosystem conference in Shenzhen. It revolved around the ‘New Ecosystem, New Opportunities’ theme, focusing on industrial development.
During the event, Xu Zhujin delivered a keynote entitled ‘Co-building the HarmonyOS native ecosystem and creating a bright future for the industry’.
Xu also talked about Huawei’s self-developed HarmonyOS NEXT operating system. He said that creating an advanced operating system isn’t a big deal. What’s more crucial is how many users are using apps and devices running on this advanced OS.
As per Xu, the success or failure of an operating system depends on the richness of its ecosystem. Speaking of the native apps, Xu mentioned that at least 100,000 apps are required to meet users’ needs in the HarmonyOS ecosystem (as per analysis). Hence, the company will work on this goal in the next six months to a year.
Simply put, Huawei aims to develop 100000 native HarmonyOS apps and services in 2025. Xu further says that everyone has to support this journey of self-sufficiency.
“…it is also the sprint stage for the launch of HarmonyOS applications. Therefore it requires the support of developers. application owners, all sectors of society, and thousands of industries.”
Huawei has announced 15,000 native HarmonyOS apps at the October 22 launch event. However, it still requires more applications to build a far mature and advanced ecosystem in the industry.
It would be worth seeing if the company achieves its new goal in 2025 or takes some more time.
