Honor V40 report to launch with Google Mobile Services, could be first Honor phone with GMS post-Huawei separation

Honor V40 is set to launch on January 22 and the company has already shared with us the first look at this upcoming Honor smartphone featuring its design and camera system.

Now a report from Lenta Ru claims that the Honor V40 will be the first Honor smartphone that will come with Google Mobile Services (GMS) since its U.S. restrictions on Huawei in 2019. This will also help Honor to sell smartphones in the European market.

Back in May 2019, Huawei was added to the U.S. entity list, which prohibits the company from using U.S. technologies and software including Google Mobile Services. Thereafter, Huawei and Honor both started launching their smartphone with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS).

Later last year, Huawei decided to sell its subsidiary, Honor to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology, a consortium of over 30 agents and dealers.

After the separation, Honor has its own management, and now, Huawei has officially parted ways with its former smartphone subbrand. Following this, Honor is now eligible to get its partnership back with Google and chipmaker such as Qualcomm.

According to a previous report, Honor V40 sports a 6.72-inch AMOLED display and has large curved edges on the left and right sides. It’ll be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor, 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate, 50MP triple rear camera system, and a dual front camera system.
