Honor to soon take on Huawei with a thin and light tri-fold: Leak

Huawei is the first player to enter the tri-fold game but it looks like many tech vendors like Honor, Samsung, and more will soon join the ground. After the Mate XT, consumers could soon find a “Magic” triple foldable in the Chinese market.

Weibo tipster @DirectorShiGuan says that the Honor triple foldable seems quite complete at this stage. The device will adopt a thin and light design with a large battery. These parameters aim to fulfill users’ demand for a perfect tri-folding phone.

Although the new tri-fold device won’t launch this year. The tipster says that Honor could unveil its first triple-folding phone next year. Apart from the Magic V3 developer, another tech vendor is also preparing to enter the tri-fold smartphone pool.

It could be OPPO (Find Series) or Xiaomi (MIX Series) as both companies are in rumors to develop a tri-folding handset. Yet the release time for these models is unknown.

The tipster further reveals that 2025 could be a booming year for book-type foldable phones. Every smartphone maker now aims to make thin and light folding phones with large batteries. In that case, the big or tri-folds need to ensure better software features.

Perhaps the firms have to work on better system adaptation, optimization, and marketing capabilities to compete with their strong opponents in the consumer market.

Following the Huawei Mate XT, many companies have reportedly begun developing their tri-fold phone. It implies that the triple-foldable market will become more fierce and intense in the upcoming months.

CEO Zhao Ming has already confirmed that Honor will launch its tri-fold as per business choice and after seeing the market response for Huawei. It will wait for the right time to unveil its creation. It would be worth seeing what changes the device will bring over Mate XT and Magic V3 foldable.
