Honor defeats Samsung in Q2 2024 Western Europe foldable race
Honor has outperformed Samsung in the Western Europe foldable ground for Q2 2024. The Chinese tech giant continues to expand its market shares in the global folding phone franchise with innovative creations and useful software features.
Counterpoint has published a new report on the Q2 2024 global foldable market and highlighted the regional growth. Among various regions, the folding phone shipment has increased in Western Europe, Asian markets, and LATAM.
Interestingly, these regions are showing a consistent lead of Chinese phone makers. Honor is no exception to this theory and outpaced Samsung in the Q2 2024 Western Europe foldable race. For the first time, Honor topped the South Korean company.
Samsung has been the king of the global foldable market with impressive Galaxy Z phones. However, the fierce competition has now engulfed global regions where consumers demand more innovative, useful, and advanced folding phones.
The report notes that Honor has been the biggest contributor in Western Europe and won the “region’s No. 1 brand” badge. After the booming sales of Magic V2 globally, Honor achieved a 455% YoY progress in Q2 2024 worldwide foldable shipment.
Magic V2
Honor Magic V2 performed well in the global markets. It landed on the consumer ground as an “ultra-slim” book-type foldable. Counterpoint says that the Magic V2 has been the most-sold horizontal folding handset in all the regions, except China.
Honor remained a tough competitor in every global foldable sphere except China, where Huawei is still in a leading position. The Mate foldable is now planning to jump with its tri-fold in the Chinese market, opening a new chapter of innovation.
After the Magic V2, Honor is ready to unveil the Magic V3 foldable – the slimmest book-type folding device worldwide. The company already mocked Samsung over the thin hinge problem uniquely and interestingly.
Other than Honor, Motorola has achieved the highest foldable market share in North and Latin America. It obtained a 458% YoY increase in the LATAM foldable phone market, following the strong sales of the Razr 40 series.
With such contributions, the global foldable phone market has grown by 48%YoY in Q2 2024. Regarding Samsung, the report expects to see the Android foldable king back on the throne in Q3 2024 with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 series.
