Report:

A report reveals that Huawei is preparing for a comback in the 5G mobile market with the help of the domestic chip maker. The company is collaborating with Chinese chip maker – SMIC in order to make good use of its EDA technologies.

A research firm said that it expected Huawei to use SMIC’s N+1 manufacturing process. Though with a forecast yield rate of usable chips below 50%, 5G shipments would be limited to around 2 million to 4 million units. A second firm estimated shipments could reach 10 million units.

Currently, Huawei has not confirmed this report officially. If it’s really coming, then it would first land with the Huawei Mate 60 series in the second half of this year.

Also, it’s good to see that Honor CEO commented on Huawei 5G return and took it as a positive note for the industry.
