Huawei CEO:
At Huawei Developer Conference 2023, Huawei CEO, Yu Chengdong announced that Huawei smartphones are back in full power. “Huawei’s flagship smartphones are making a comeback,” said Chengdong on stage.
Yu’s assessment comes after privately-held Huawei resurfaced as a top-five smartphone vendor in mainland China during the second quarter, according to data from research firm IDC.
Huawei had surpassed Samsung Electronics to become the world’s biggest smartphone vendor in the second quarter of 2020 but saw this business struggle subsequently owing to tightened US sanctions that cut off its access to advanced mobile chips.
At the event, Huawei released the HarmonyOS 4 operating system for all of the old smartphones. Later on, Huawei is also preparing to release Huawei Mate 60 series flagship.
Honor started its journey as a subsidiary of Huawei and the company created a big user base in China. However, in 2020, Huawei had to sell Honor.
