Huawei has ensured its customers that they’ll get security updates and after sales services to all existing Huawei and Honor smartphones and tabs, amid all of this discussion, more information on plan B OS has appeared on the ground.

According to our source, the new operating system “Hongmeng” is based on Linux and its name is derived from the Chinese mythological word.

A name like this matches perfectly with its processor series “Kirin” which is also derived from the name of a mythical chimerical creature ‘Qilin’.

It’s also being said that this OS will be used as a universal operating system for cross platforms including phones and notebooks.

Back in March, Huawei CEO Richard Yu, said we’ve plan B ready in case Huawei smartphones and computers can’t use Android or Windows OS following the tensions between Huawei and the US.

Yesterday, Google suspended its support Huawei’s software program and denied, and future Huawei smartphones will also lose access to any Google services, including the Play Store.

The move comes after the United States added the company to a list (Entity List) of companies that US firms cannot trade with unless they have a license. It means Huawei can’t purchase equipment from the US companies without prior government approval.
