Huawei has officially announced a new HarmonyOS NEXT feature called – app pre-installation. It is also known as installation pre-loading. The tool is capable of dynamically improving the speed of opening apps on smartphones or tablets.
App pre-installation simply refers to loading application data before it gets opened. This happens via a short process. When activated, the feature lets the app load its data into the local cache memory of the device at the time when it is being installed.
Since the app data remains present in advance, it doesn’t take time to launch. The feature directly uses the cached data to display the content when the app launches on the device. As a result, your favorite application on the device will load in no time.
The description further reads that the HarmonyOS NEXT app pre-installation feature doesn’t require any special SDK integration. Also, it doesn’t alter the original data format of the app. Hence, users don’t have to worry about any kind of data loss.

Developers can initiate pre-installation by following these steps:
- Log in to AppGallery Connect
- Now turn on the pre-installation and bind cloud features
- Select Integrated pre-installation
- Tap on effect verification
Note that pre-installation is free. But if it uses the cloud to implement the pre-installation and surpasses the free quota then it will require a recharge of a certain amount.
