Google may give a new makeover to status bar icons in Android 15
Google is exploring new changes for the Android 15 operating system and one of them could appear in the design of the status bar icons. The company is planning to offer a new makeover to the status bar with the upcoming Android major upgrade.
While the status bar plays a significant role in Android phones, the U.S. tech giant has not given any change to it for a long time. Google has often made small upgrades to this section by altering its icons or adding some new ones along them at the top.
But a major change to the status bar remained absent over the years. Even the latest Android 14 status bar shows a similar look to the Lollipop version launched in 2014.
However things may change with the Android 15 as Google is working on a modern look of the status bar icons. For instance, the status bar icon for the battery may show the current battery level inside the icon rather than in the outer area.
These icons are likely to remain inspired from the previous Android builds yet, would offer better visual effects. You can check the difference between the Wi-Fi signal, mobile data signal, and other icons in both light and dark modes below.
Another addition could be the haptic feedback in the Quick Settings. Holding the respective tile for a while will make your phone vibrate until the particular tile leads you to the respective section. Some volume feedback may also appear on the volume slider when pressing the keys.
