Google is removing GMS certificate from old Huawei devices: FALSE RUMOR
After the recent controversy of the Google app virus, many users panicked and thought that Google had started removing the GMS certificates from their Huawei smartphones, which is purely false.
Earlier this week, Huawei began to flag the all-in-one Google app as a security threat and labeled it as a “Trojan”. This led to a mass discussion online about the current scenario that occurred in Huawei devices.
Showing the Google app as a malware threat made a negative impact on users and originated many theories. One of them is that Google has started revoking the Google Mobile Services (GMS) licenses from the certified smartphones launched before 2019.
For those who are new to this matter. Google stopped certifying new Huawei smartphones after the US ban on the Chinese company in 2019. Thereafter, all of the phones only run Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) and its native mobile apps.
Still, many of the previously launched devices including the prominent flagship – Huawei P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro also have certified experience. The Google app issue that we’re talking about has appeared in almost all GMS Huawei devices.
At the heart of the matter, the entire fault is claimed by AVAST, the well-known security solution provider. Therefore, it’s certain that Google is not removing GMS licenses from old Huawei phones.
