Global foldable smartphone sales will exceed 10 million units in 2022

In today’s scenario, the foldable smartphone market is growing rapidly as new models are continuously flooding the market. According to the Taiwan Economic Daily’s report, the major brands such as Huawei, Samsung, and more have boosted the global foldable smartphone by launching their latest products.

Compared to past years, global foldable smartphone sales have increased year by year and the folding phone has become the first choice of consumers. On the other hand, Research Institute DSCC predicts that in 2022 the global foldable smartphone shipped unit will surpass 10 million counts for this time and will reach up to 17.5 million.

Speaking about the cost, the foldable smartphone price has dropped a lot compared to the past, when the foldable device was not popular. However, the top-smartphone maker including Huawei and Samsung also entered the foldable smartphone market.

Meanwhile, Apple and Google are actively developing foldable smartphones. On the other hand, Counterpoint has also reported that foldable smartphone shipments will grow 10x by 2023. It is expected that next three to five years, there will be business opportunities in the folding mobile phone market.

On January 12, Huawei has released its first flip-style smartphone – Huawei P50 Pocket with EMUI 12 operating system and Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G chipset. However, the P50 Pro uses the hinges produced by Metal Injection Moulding (MIM).

Huawei P50 Pocket comes with a powerful camera system and premium features but the major setback is the lack of 5G support. However, it is a strong competitor to Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
