December 2020 security update rolling out for Huawei Nova 6 SE
Huawei is rapidly expanding the EMUI 11 beta testing for more eligible devices in more regions. Huawei Nova 6 series has received the EMUI 11 stable version in China. Still, the Nova 6 SE users are still waiting to get EMUI 11.
In the meantime, Huawei has begun sending a new software update for Huawei Nova 6 SE users. This update brings the latest security patch released in December 2020 to improve the system security. Huawei Nova 6 SE is the first smartphone getting the December 2020 security patch.

Version: Huawei Nova 6 SE users grabbing EMUI 10.1 version 10.1.0.228 updating from 10.1.0.227.
Security: Incorporated the latest security patch released in December 2020 that fixes 1 critical and 11 high levels of CVE’s for improved system security.
UPDATE INSTRUCTION:
To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop-up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.
Alternatively, you can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.
POINTS TO KNOW BEFORE UPDATE:
- Currently, this update is rolling out in China.
- The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
- The update will not erase any data.
