Critics should tell us the alternative of Huawei, says UK’s Prime Minister
Yesterday, the US delegates warned Britain over the use of Huawei for 5G and now British Prime Minister Boris Johnson came up with a reply asking for a better alternative of the Chinese tech giant.
Talking to BBC TV, Johnson said: if people oppose one brand or the other, they have to tell us what the alternative is, right?
Also, he said he didn’t want to compromise UK’s security but insisted that Britain deserves the best technology.
On Monday, Senior US officials told British ministers that using Huawei technology in UK 5G networks would put transatlantic intelligence-sharing at risk.
The US alleges Huawei of being a security risk and can steal secret information through its network equipment, which Huawei has repeatedly denied. Moreover, the US is generating a maximum amount of pressure on the UK to ban Huawei for 5G.
All four major mobile networks in the UK including Vodafone, BT, EE, and Three launched 5G services using Huawei’s network gear and some government official admits that banning Huawei would cost a big sum of money and delay the 5G development.
