Google’s recent service restrictions have created some difficulties for Huawei but Apple’s difficulties seem to be already started in China without even getting restricted from the country’s government.

Huawei will launch two versions of its OS, one for China and other for the Global market

According to SCMP, consumers who’ve been using iPhones for a long time are now switching to Huawei for different kinds of reasons including to support the Chinese telecom giant.

“There is a calling from my heart that I need to show support for Chinese brands, especially in the trade war climate,” said the manager at one of China’s largest solar module manufacturers. When the time finally came to retire his three-year-old iPhone 7 earlier this month, Wang went with a Huawei P30.

Another user iPhone used switched to Huawei, who was also driven by emotion.

“It’s kind of embarrassing to pull an iPhone out of your pocket nowadays when all the company executives use Huawei.”

Wang and Li are just two of many examples from a lot more people who choose Huawei over Apple amid escalating trade ties between the US and China.

As a consequence, if the US ban is projected to drown Huawei in the short term, ongoing situations in the US market could play a major role in Huawei to hurt Apple’s sales in China.

“Chinese consumers’ love for Huawei can only increase because of the ban,” said Kiranjeet Kaur, senior research manager at IDC Asia Pacific. “Unless of course hardware supply chain constraints affect the roll-out of its phones locally.”

In the first quarter of 2019, Apple’s smartphone market share in China reached 11.7% with compared to 15.7% last year, and it’s also forecasted to go down even further.
