In August 2019, Huawei filed a new in-ward folding phone patent with CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Office). This patent is now (September 25, 2020) approved and published on the CNIPA database and reveals Huawei’s plans for its upcoming foldable phone.

According to letsgodigital, this patent includes 32 product sketches and a summary description. The main (foldable) display of the phone provides full-view resolution excluding notch design. On the cover, it has a large display with a wide punch-hole design to house two selfie cameras. Once folded, users can interact with the cover display.

On the backside, the phone has a high-resolution “Penta” camera setup consisting of a periscope telephoto lens and built on a large camera bump. On the right side, the phone equips a volume rocker and side fingerprint + power button.

The bottom side features a USB Type-C port, as well as a speaker grill, while the top side has a SIM-Card Tray.

The design of this folding phone patent has higher chances of going into production compared to any of its predecessors and Huawei likely to choose this design for the next Mate X flagship.

According to a previous report, Huawei Mate X2 is codenamed “Teto” and tagged with a model number TET-AN00. Some sources suggest that Huawei will launch the Huawei Mate X2 in 2021.
