Canada is showing signs to delay a decision on whether to allow Huawei to supply 5G network equipment until after the October federal election.

Huawei says it has two suppliers for each component used in its products

Source related to the matter told Reuters, that the Liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is undecided on Huawei until the condition of two detained Canadians in China becomes clearer.

Last December, China arrested the pair and later charged them with spying, which is alleged as an after-action of Huawei’s chief financial officer’s detention in Canada in the same month.

The US is continuesly raising concerns over Huawei network equipment that it can be used for breaking the national security, By listening the US experts in Canada are also reviewing the security concerns related to Huawei and its participation in the infrastructure development.

Telecoms such as BCE Inc and Telus Corp are worried about their 5G network proceeding and expected to halt the plans until Ottawa comes across with the decision.

Meng Wanzhou daughter of Huawei founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei, was arrested at Vancouver’s airport in December last year under a U.S. warrant and is fighting extradition on charges of bank fraud, and violation of sanction on Iran.

Last month, It’s decided that Meng will challenge her extradition to the US, as the hearing is set to begin on Jan 20, 2020, in Vancouver. Her lawyer proposed that the extradition hearing wrap up in October 2020, with extra time set aside in November 2020 in case it is needed.
