Breaking: Huawei P30 Series will receive HarmonyOS 4
In a surprising turn of events, Huawei has officially announced HarmonyOS 4 rollout for Huawei P30 series smartphones in China. The latest announcement came after Huawei P30 and previously launched devices lost hope of receiving further major software releases.
According to the information, Huawei confirmed that a total of 12 smartphones including Huawei P30 and Mate 20 series will start HarmonyOS 4 upgrade process in the first quarter of 2024.

- Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design
- Huawei Mate 20 X
- Huawei Mate 20 X 5G
- Huawei Nova 5 Pro
- Honor 20
- Honor 20 Pro
- Honor V20
- Honor Magic2
These are just smartphones and the company has also pledged new rollouts for various smartwatches and other devices.
All of these are powered by the Kirin 980 chipset platform and most of them launched around 2019. However, two of them are the most popular Huawei P series and Mate series devices. Therefore, the new notice of the upgrade makes the entire scenario even more special than before.
Following its launch, the Huawei P30 series and Mate 20 series offered EMUI software out of the box. After the launch of HarmonyOS 2 in 2020, the Huawei P30 series and Mate 20 became one of the first models to upgrade over HarmonyOS. Meanwhile, the global users kept on installing EMUI and its subsequent versions.
Since then Huawei P30 series and other Kirin 980 chipset devices received HarmonyOS 2, and HarmonyOS 3 and now, it’s announced to jump over HarmonyOS 4. This a very interesting upgrade for all of the Huawei P30 series users but it would have been far better if similar treatment had been served for the global Huawei P30 models.
HarmonyOS 4 comes with a variety of new features including the personalization option for the lock screen. Allowing users to change the theme and customize the wallpaper to improve the on-screen appearance. There are new animations and interactive live window makes it even more fun to check the latest in-device activity.
