Today, Huawei officially announced the Huawei Mate 70 series and revealed the first look at this flagship’s iconic new rear camera system as well as the upgrades.

The company has posted this update on the Chinese social media network Weibo and shared an image of the smartphone.

The picture consists of the rear design with a circular camera bump. It has a huge ring that covers the whole bump with a diamond-cut texture on the sides.

It consists of four camera openings and three of these are likely to be the main camera, an ultra-wide, and a telephoto cam. The fourth could be a depth sensor for better boke shots.

The side view shows that the bump is thicker than the existing Mate 60. That brings us to the frame including two buttons for volume rocker and power/lock/wake.

Similar to the previous devices, the phone carries round edges and curves on the back panel. It was previously speculated that the device could leave curves on four sides but we cannot deny such a possibility since it’s only one device in a teaser image.

The company has plans to release four models – standard, Pro, Pro+, and Ultimate Design. These devices will vary in specifications, especially the latter two. Among these, the ultimate design offers exclusive rear finishing and a premium look for a high price.

The image also showed a new back texture, which looks very interesting. However, Huawei will have more of these and plain back panels for new models.

Huawei Mate 70 series will launch with a new generation of HarmonyOS operating system with redesigned animations and improved features.

These new capabilities will contribute to a new user experience fused with AI and large language models inside the Kirin chipset.

Huawei will unveil an official Mate 70 series launch event on November 26 at 2:30 p.m. (China time).
