Breaking: HarmonyOS 4 will launch next year
At Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) 2022, Huawei dropped a big revelation that HarmonyOS 4 operating system next year. As it has now been confirmed that the company has decided to skip the HarmonyOS launch for this year.
The announcement came during the HDC 2022 keynote from Huawei Consumer Business Group Chief Operating Officer, He Gang, saying that the next HarmonyOS version – HarmonyOS 4 will launch next year.
According to the information, HarmonyOS 4 will play a major role in establishing the concept of “HarmonyOS World” and work with the corresponding technologies.
However, He Gang has not revealed any specific details or user interface designs for phone users.
HarmonyOS will garner 30,000APIs that help developers to install new features to the operating system as well as mobile applications.
HarmonyOS:
HarmonyOS is designed as a cross-device multi-platform operating system from Huawei and started its journey in 2019. From there, the company announced HM OS 1 for smart TVs, followed by HarmonyOS 2 in the subsequent year.
HarmonyOS 2.0 was revolutionary and it opened the gate for smartphone adaptation, a beginning that Huawei smartphone users have been waiting for.
HarmonyOS 3 is the next step and Huawei phones, tablets, smartwatches, and other smart devices already started upgrading to this version.
At today’s event, Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO – Yu Chengdong confirmed over 320 million installations for HarmonyOS operating system, which is a new milestone.
On the other hand, Huawei’s third-party electronic devices’ operating system HarmonyOS Connect has also touched new heights with 250 million installations and a 212% on-year increase in devices that are launching with this OS.
Nonetheless, we now have to wait until Huawei Developer Conference 2023 to get HarmonyOS 4 on board. However, the outcome may meet our expectations and there are some amazing features that Huawei is likely to bring with HarmonyOS 4.
